Get Out offers a range of different services and this makes the company a difficult one to describe. In its most basic terms, if you want to get out and do things and need some assistance (or a lot of assistance) in doing that, then we are the company that can help you!
Outings
There are a number of people who use our service to have small trips out in the community. These typically are during the evening after Day Program or on weekends. They can be an hour long or eight depending on what you want to do or where you want to go. We regularly take evening trips to the movies, out for dinner, to the farmers market and bowling. On weekends you will often find a group of us visiting Solvang or Lompoc, Santa Barbara Zoo or Natural History Museum, arts and craft fairs – you name it we go there! Sometimes a vacation is what is required. In the last many months we have been to a number of different places with a variety of people. Instead of us telling you the places where you can go that we will take you, you tell us where you want to go and we build a trip from that! When we get a request for a trip, we ask around and see if anyone else wants to join in – this makes it much more cost effective for everyone. All of our trips are staffed on an individual basis to make sure that everybody gets the right amount of care and support.Sometimes somebody wants to go and visit with relatives – for a special birthday or anniversary or just because – and with the specialist equipment we carry and the experience that our staff have, we are able to make this a memorable time for all the family and friends involved.
This past year we have been to Disneyland, Sea World, Baseball Games, Hawaii, Seattle and Las Vegas – to name a few. We have trips planned over the next few months to Kauai, San Diego, Disneyland and Pennsylvania!
House Trips
A few times this year we have been contacted by residential houses and group homes who have wanted to arrange a trip for the whole house but have required assistance in doing this. As they have needed no help getting there or while they are there because they have all their own staff and transportation, we have been able to assist them in choosing hotels, routes, ticket purchase and hints and tips on their destination for getting the most out of the trips.
