Get Out! Travel

Get Out is a partnership owned and operated by Kimberly Klester and Denyse Barnes.  It has been in operation now since early 2007 and is growing steadily and slowly.  Since the conception of the idea for the business, many changes have been made to the type of services the company offers – this has mostly been driven by demand and input from our client base – both service users and their facilitators.

Kimberly Klester – ran a day program in Santa Barbara for over ten years.  Catering to developmentally disabled adults and offering them a program where they can access the community, take part in arts and crafts, relax with friends and have a good time.  Kimberly has traveled extensively and takes great satisfaction in being able to make wonderful memories and experiences for those who would otherwise be unable to without her assistance.

Denyse Barnes – was a special education teacher for four years in a post compulsory school and college.  Prior to that she ran a vacation camp for children of all ages with special needs.  She has also been a pre school teacher and ran her own IT consultancy for many years.  Since traveling the world, making California her home and developing the business she is excited to be able to give so many more opportunities to many more people than she had thought was possible.

Our Assistants – from time to time we employ other people to help us out.  We do this to make sure that everybody is safe and properly cared for and that we are able to achieve all that everybody wants to for any given outing.  All of our staff are First Aid, CPR and Water Safety trained and every member of staff must undertake an induction course before they are allowed to come out and have fun with us!

Our Equipment – we have a number of wheelchair accessible vehicles which are serviced and maintained regularly.  We only use the highest quality tie downs to secure wheelchairs and all front seat passengers are secured with seat belts also.  We have a portable hoyer lift, electric shower chairs and a number of other tools and aids that we can use to assist with personal hygiene and ensure that all travel is completed safely and comfortably.
